BOOKING PROCEDURES
A deposit will be required before any
reservation can be confirmed as follows:
Cancellation Policy
-
Should a cancellation be received 60
days prior to arrival, 25% of monies
paid will be forfeited
-
Should a cancellation be received
between 30 & 60 days prior to arrival,
50% of monies paid will be forfeited
-
Should a cancellation be received
between 10 & 29 days prior to arrival,
75% of monies paid will be forfeited
-
Should a cancellation be received
between 1 & 9 days prior to arrival,
100% of monies paid will be forfeited
Should we
be able to re-sell the casa, the
cancellation fee will be waived, however a
15% handling fee will be charged.
Before Departure
-
South African passport holders no longer
require visas. Foreign passports do
require visas
Note: your passport should be valid for
at least 6 months
Visas are available at the border
(Foreign passports only)

Vehicle registration papers are
required. If the vehicle is not
registered in your name, please obtain a
letter of authorization for you to use
the vehicle

Third
party insurance is compulsory in
Mozambique. It is obtainable at the
border
-
A
valid driver's license must be carried
on your person at all times whilst
driving
-
Seatbelts are compulsory for the driver
and all his/her passengers
Mozambique falls within the malaria belt.
Please consult your doctor/chemist on
prophylactics.

At the Border
ON THE SOUTH AFRICAN SIDE
Complete
a vehicle temporary export document, have it
stamped and then proceed to immigration with
your passports.
ON THE MOZAMBICAN SIDE
Proceed
to immigration with your passports and pay
approximately R17 per person Tourism Tax.
Next proceed to the customs desk, present
your temporary export permit and pay
approximately R20.
Very
important - remember to buy your Third Party
Insurance at the insurance desk
An additional payment to be made of
approximately R80 for any trailer linked to
a vehicle.
Alcohol -
do not bring in any type of beer. The local
beer is very good and customs officials are
very strict on this rule. 1l of spirits is
allowed per person.
En Route
-
Obey
the speed limit in any towns - radar
speed traps are common

Wear
your safety belts in the front and rear
at all times
-
If
towing display a triangle on the front
and back of vehicle
-
Take
a tyre pump and pressure gauge - in soft
sand deflate your tyres to approximately
1 bar (vehicle and trailer)

Don't
give lifts
-
In
the event of an accident you will be
required to present your Third Party
Insurance, a valid drivers' license and
vehicle papers. You will also be
required to make a statement at the
nearest Police Station

Once
you take the turn-off to Inhassoro the
road becomes a single lane. You and the
oncoming vehicles have to both go semi
off the road. Please note oncoming
vehicles do not always give way,
especially trucks and taxis. Be careful
when going off the tarred section as
there are some big potholes on the side
of the road. Ensure it is safe before
you attempt it

Please enquire about the tides prior to
arrival as we are dependent on them to
reach the lodge
Fuel Stops (Coming from SA)

You
need to fill up at Komatipoort before
you reach the Border

Next
stop is Xai-Xai, about 200km from Maputo

Next
stop is Inharrime about 200km from
Xai-Xai

Next
stop is Maxixe or Masinga

Next
stop just pass the turn-off to Inhassoro
Please
ensure you fill up before turning towards
Inhassoro as it is a 32km stretch on the
beach you have to travel to reach BD Lodge
